Wisdom of the herd

A journey of self-awareness and connection

Trail Riders Victoria is excited to partner with Clinical Psychology Australia to offer the Wisdom of the Herd – Self-awareness and Connection Retreat. This retreat will enable participant to explore a magical and powerful connection with horses whilst forming a deeper connection and understanding of themselves. The retreat will be guided by qualified professionals and experienced horse handlers, all of whom have a deep passion for horses and what they teach us in relationship if we open our hearts to them.

  • Wanting an experience with horses but unsure where to start
  • Wanting to form an authentic connection with horses

  • If you’re feeling anxious with your own horse and wanting to build confidence

This retreat is an ‘in hand’ experience meaning there is no riding or mounted session. We will be working with horses in a safe environment on the ground and at liberty. If you find you discover a passion for horses over the retreat and want to explore this further, there will be many experienced horse people to talk with, all at different stages in their horse partnership journey. This retreat will focus on building self-awareness and connection through exploring patterns of thinking, feelings and behaviours that influence relationships. We will cover topics such as the power of boundaries, acceptance, leadership, the art of requesting, communication and attunement.

The Wisdom of the Herd Retreat will be held at Trail Rider Victoria’s (TRV) basecamp in the beautiful Strath Valley. Accommodation will be bunkroom-style but you are more than welcome to bring your own swag or tent if that is preferred. Catering is included as are all the tools, horses and workshop resources necessary for sessions.

Those who would like to build confidence with their own horse are welcome to attend.

Those with their own horse will be offered guided ridden experiences.

We are limiting this retreat to 10 people so it is important to register your interest asap if you would like to secure your place. For those who feel comfortable to do so, we are able to claim a Medicare rebate under the Better Access Program (Mental Health Care Plan) which will create a rebate of up to $174.00.
